                                    11Olympic Peninsula road tripTake the Washington State Ferry from Edmonds, then drive west about 52 miles toward the Olympic Peninsula for the Jamestown S%u2019Klallam Tribe%u2019s hotel near Sequim. At the entrance to the 7 Cedars Hotel, you%u2019re greeted by a 42-foot totem carved from local red cedar. Within, each floor corresponds to a unique %u201clayer of life%u201d (sky, water, shore and land), while room inspirations include cedar forest, canoe journey and Salish Sea. Even if you don%u2019t stay, it%u2019s worth visiting to encounter some of the 750 art pieces found throughout the building, along with the integration of Jamestown S%u2019Klallam art and coastal tribal motifs. The resort also features golf, dining, entertainment and, of course, gaming at the casino. About 91 miles west along Highway 112, find the Makah Cultural & Research Center. Operated by the Makah Tribe, the museum showcases more than 500 artifacts from the tribe%u2019s whaling and fishing culture, along with artifacts from the Ozette archaeological site %u2014 a village buried by a mudslide 300-500 years ago. Red Mountain is framedby the windows of Kiona Vineyards%u2019 tasting room near Benton City.
