                                    3Continued on page 4 Travel a trail on the EastsideOver the past few years, a historic railroad line has undergone a transformation as it becomes a 42-mile, flat, paved or crushed-gravel walking and biking trail running from Lake Washington%u2019s eastern shores to the town of Snohomish. The new Eastrail pathway currently has several sections open, with more to open in 2026, connecting to more than 175 miles of existing regional trails. Use the interactive trail map to see the newest portions and don%u2019t miss the art installations added in 2025. You may even see the historic 120-year-old, 1,000-foot-long Wilburton Trestle%u2019s transformation into a pedestrian bridge (to be completed in 2027).Cycle wine country in Walla Walla The inaugural Bike Camp Walla Walla 2026 (June 7-12) invites riders to join daily cycling routes (short and long options) through wine country, past orchards and rolling vineyards and into the picturesque Blue Mountains. Participants can stay in modern college dorms, local hotels or designated tent camping areas and enjoy farmto-table meals. Camp a mountainside destinationMount Rainier%u2019s popular Ohanapecosh campground is slated to reopen in 2026, offering upgrades to the 185 campsites and nine bathrooms. The completion will make accessible again the Ohanapecosh River access, parking and the Ohanapecosh Visitor Center. When completed, the improved sites should reduce pressure on campsite availability, but the exact reopening date isn%u2019t yet known. Stay on top of 2026 changes and campsite reservations via the National Park Service campgrounds webpage. Get social in Suncadia It%u2019s hard to believe, but this year marks the central Washington resort destination of Suncadia%u2019s 25th anniversary. A new $40 million expansion will open in the spring of 2026, including %u201cSuncadia Social,%u201d a pedestrian-friendly cluster of local shops and restaurants within walking distance of the main lodge. Planned visitor-ready stops along the path include a grocery store, coffee shop, a wine-tasting room, restaurants and home-goods stores.
