Get ready for GiveBIG on May 3
For those of us who live in the Seattle area, there is so
much of which to be proud. Few places can match our
natural beauty, cultural amenities, and opportunities for
growth and prosperity. Quality of life is on the rise, the
economy is growing rapidly and innovation surrounds us.
Yet the challenges that accompany our prosperity are
increasingly evident. We see that many are not benefitting
from our collective success, and there are widening and
glaring economic, social and racial inequities which we
cannot ignore.
Together, we can make an impact. On Tuesday, May
3, please join us by participating in GiveBIG — Seattle
Foundation’s annual call to action. It’s a magical day of
community spirit and generosity, when we ask you to give
generously online to your favorite local nonprofits which
are doing so much to make our region a stronger, more
vibrant place for everyone.
Giving is a catalyst for change, and with more than 1,500
participating area nonprofits, you are sure to find many
causes and organizations worthy of your support — sev-
eral of which are profiled in this GiveBIG Giving Guide. A
complete list, updated daily, is also available at
.
While GiveBIG is only one day, it has a huge impact for
our community. Our goal this year is to raise $20 million
for participating nonprofits across King County, from
neighborhood food banks to the arts, and from environ-
mental causes to after-school youth programs and more.
Since Seattle Foundation founded GiveBIG six years ago,
the one-day event has raised more than $56 million for
great organizations doing amazing work right here in our
community.
By investing in our community through GiveBIG on
May 3 — or by giving early beginning April 18 at
— together we can
address these issues head-on and create lasting impact
worthy of our pride.
