TheMakah Indian TribeReservation

relyheavilyon theoceanand the forest somanyof
itsmembersare skilled oodworkersand
mariners,and they invest ineducationprograms to
provideopportunities for their youth.
10.Muckleshoot
TheMuckleshoot Indian Tribe,withmore than3,000members,
hasa reservation in southeastKingCounty. The Tribeoperatesmajorenterprises
includingMuckleshootSeafoodProducts, theWhiteRiverAmphitheatre,Emerald
Downs,andMuckleshootCasino
.
11.Nisqually
TheNisqually Indian Tribehasmore than650enrolledmembers,a
majorityofwhom liveonornear the reservation. The tribe,whichoperatesa casino
andnumerous retailoutlets, isoneof the largestemployers in ThurstonCounty. Italso
managesprograms to restoreandenhancehabitat, including theNisquallyDelta.
12.Nooksack
TheNooksack IndianTribe,with
approximately2,000members,hasa444-acre reservation
locatednearDeming. Fishing in theNooksackRiverand salt
waterareas isan important sourceof incomeand food for
many families,aswellasbeinga sourceof culturalprideand
identity.The tribalfisheriesprogram regulatesfishingand
works toenhancefish runsandprotect theenvironment.The
Tribeswork closelywith local,State,andFederalagencies to
reviewproposeddevelopments, timberharvestsandother
environmentaldisturbances,andevaluate their impacton
waterquality,fisheries,and cultural sites
.
13.PortGambleS’Klallam
ThePortGambleS'Klallam Tribehasover1,200
membersanda reservationalongPortGambleBaynearHoodCanal. The
Noo-KayetDevelopmentCorporation isanagencyof thePortGambleS'Klallam
Tribeand is responsible foreconomicdevelopmentandestablishedeconomic
enterprises.Noo-Kayet’smission is toadvance the long-termeconomic interestof
the tribal community.
14.Puyallup
ThePuyallupTribeof Indianshasmore than4,000membersand is
consideredoneof themosturban Indian reservations in theU.S. The tribe’seconomic
development initiatives includegaming facilitiesand retailoutlets. Puyallupprovidesa
full rangeofgovernment servicesand collaborateswith localgovernmentsonprojects,
including transportation improvements.
15.Quileute
TheQuileuteTribe is located inLaPushon the shoresof thePacific
Ocean.The reservation’s remote locationmakes ita topdestination forbeachgoersand
recreationalfishers. The tribeactively supports tourismandoperates cabins,motel rooms
andRV sitesat itsOceansideResort.
16.Quinault
TheQuinault IndianNationReservationhasover208,150acres
locatedat the southwest cornerof theOlympicPeninsula,andhasover2,500
members.Nearly700peopleareemployedby theQuinault IndianNationand its
enterprises,making itoneof the largestemployers inGraysHarborCounty.
17.Samish
TheSamish IndianNation is
locatednearAnacortes. The tribeoperatesa
resortalong thebaywith cabinsandRV
spots. Oneof thenewestWashingtonState
ferries isnamedafter theSamish Tribe.
18.Sauk-Suiattle
TheSauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe is locatednearDarringtonand
hasapproximately200memberson its34acre reservation.Afterbeing re-recognized
in1973, the tribehas grown steadily,acquired land,developednew infrastructure,
and continues investing in localbusiness.
19.ShoalwaterBay
TheShoalwaterBay Indian Tribe isamajoremployer in the
areaoperatinga gaming facility,motel, restaurant,and retail services.
20.Skokomish
TheSkokomish Indian Tribe is
locatedonanearly5,000acre reservationonHood
Canalat thedeltaof theSkokomishRiver. The tribe
operatesagaming facility,moteland retailoutlets.
Skokomishand itspartnershavedevelopeda
wastewater treatmentplant tohelp improveHood
Canalwaterquality. The tribe isalso leadingan
effort to restore theSkokomishDelta.
21.Snoqualmie
TheSnoqualmie Indian Tribehasapproximately650members
and is located in theSnoqualmieValley. Inaddition to funding tribal government
programs, revenue from the tribe’s casino supportsorganizationswith charitable
donations totalingmore than$4million indonations since2010.
22.Spokane
TheSpokane Tribeof Indians’ reservation is159,000acres located in
EasternWashington. The tribehasapproximately2,700members.
23.Squaxin Island
The Squaxin Island Tribe is located at the south endofPuget
Sound. The tribehas approximately930members and their reservation includes
Squaxin Island and six acresof land atKamilche. The tribeoperates a casino,hotel
and retail services.
24.Stillaguamish
TheStillaguamish Tribeof Indianshasover230members in
SnohomishCounty. The tribe invests significant resources inmaintainingnatural
resources, includingmanagementofafishhatchery that restoresChinookandCoho
salmon runs,and the tribe’sMarineStewardshipandShellfishProgram. Tribal
enterprises includea casino,hoteland retail services.
25.Suquamish
TheSuquamish Tribe is
locatedon thePortMadison IndianReservation
inNorthKitsapCounty. The tribe’seconomic
developmentagency,PortMadisonEnterprises,
is the second-largestprivate sectoremployer in
KitsapCountywithover750employees.
26.Swinomish
TheSwinomish Indian Tribe isoneof thefive largestemployers in
SkagitCountywithover250employees in tribal governmentandapproximately300
employees in its casino/resortandothereconomicenterprises.
27.Tulalip
The Tulalip Tribes ofWashington is located on the TulalipReservation
near Everett. The TulalipReservation is 22,000 acres,where overhalf of its 4,000
members live. They operatemany enterprises such as TulalipResort Casino and
Quil Ceda Village.
28.UpperSkagit
TheUpperSkagit Indian Tribedescends from tribes that
inhabited10 villageson theSkagitandSauk rivers inwesternWashington. TheUpper
SkagitReservationhasa total landareaof110acres inWesternSkagitCountyandhas
approximately200members.
