Each one of us has a part to play in creating a community where all women can succeed. Working together, we can address the impact of housing instability, economic insecurity, and domestic violence on local women. Not sure where to start? Below are a few easy ways you can take action for justice and equity. Be a vocal advocate for women and girls Your voice is a powerful tool, use it! Learn about the current issues and opportunities facing women and families in your area, and contact your elected officials to share your personal experience and advocate for policies that will provide women with the support they deserve. Make it fun with friends and family Get others involved to make service a fun and rewarding experience. Schedule a monthly outing with your friends and spend a few hours together volunteering with a local nonprofit. Teach your kids about giving back by starting an annual family tradition of donating school supplies or hosting a winter clothing drive. Make meaningful connections with new people Join a local group that brings people together around a social cause and offers a way to meet and connect with others who care about the same issues as you. YWCA’s GenRising offers networking and mentorship for professionals under 45 who want to learn how they can make a difference for women in the Seattle area. Together, we have the power, resources, and skills to shape our region for the better.
