Folklife Festiva - May 25-28, 2018
8 DANCE Contra, tango, waltz, salsa, square … You name it, it’s here at the Festival. If you’re a first-time dancer or a 47-year veteran, there’s plenty of dances to participate in this year. So grab a partner and try something new at the Armory Court Stage or in the Fisher Pavilion, where most of the participatory dances are located. Some Festival highlights include: Next-gen contra stars: Dance to the music of these incredible young musicians and get a taste of the next generation of contra dancing. InTentCity: Saturday, 8 PM in the Fisher Pavilion Crow Valley String Band: Sunday, noon at the Armory Court Stage Brothers Lindsay: Monday, 7 PM in the Fisher Pavilion Hot Cider String Band: Monday, 8 PM in the Fisher Pavilion For dancers new to the scene: Check out some of these dances, perfect for the first time you get out onto the floor. High School Swing Dance sponsored by KNKX with dance lessons from Dean Paton and Nancy Fry: Friday, 3 PM at the Armory Court Stage Swing that Thang with dance lessons from Jodi Fleischman and Mark Kihara: Monday, 3 PM at the Armory Court Stage New this year: We like to mix things up and we encourage you to, as well!
