Memorial Day weekend is a time of joyful reunion and a magnificent opportunity to meet new friends. Together we’ll celebrate the wide variety of the cultures that enrich our lives all year long. We’re glad you are a part of it! Our Cultural Focus this year is one we all can relate to: The Power of the Human Voice Through Song explores the many facets of song in the everyday lives of all the participating communities of the Northwest. You’re sure to find your moment of recollection and memory in the wide array of this year’s programming. As you enjoy your time at the Festival, please keep in mind that all of our performers are sharing their time and talents for the enrichment of us all. Their love of what they do brings them to our stages annually, yet their opportunities to do so cost ever more each year. We urge you to remember that this annual rite of spring remains open to all — on and off stage — due to your generous donations. The magic of this Festival is viable only through your financial participation — it is essential to ensure a vibrant festival now and for the next generation. Thanks to all of you who participate, volunteer and donate; to our partners at Seattle Center; our presenting sponsor, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance; many other sponsors; and to the thousands of people who gather on this special weekend to celebrate Folklife — the arts and traditions we all do with and for each other.
