SUNDAY, APRIL 26, 2020 | Special Advertising Section 1 R 8 First responders are working harder than ever, fully dedicated to providing the emergency services desperately needed in our community right now. They are on the front line, every day and night, saving lives. They’re here for you. Now is your time to be here for them, and to show your support to all our first responders through the Medic One Foundation, which pays for their world-class training. The Medic One Foundation is dedicated to saving lives by improving pre-hospital emergency care. If you or a loved one is fighting to stay alive, you want the very best emergency medical care possible. That’s the purpose of the Medic One Foundation, which was established in 1974 by the very physicians who founded our region’s Medic One emergency response system — to ensure that you receive the very best medical care possible when faced with a life-threatening medical emergency. From the devastating mudslide in Oso, Washington, to the tragic crash on Seattle’s Aurora Bridge to the countless daily medical emergencies in the lives of fragile or healthy citizens, the Medic One Foundation exists so that medics can bring the hospital to you. We prepare Medic One paramedics with the best and most comprehensive and grueling training in the world, paramedics who are given more than twice the number of recommended training hours, using the latest medical technology and medicine, allowing them to save more lives. As a result of this additional training, cardiac arrest victims are two to three times more likely to survive in the Puget Sound region. Medic One achieves these lifesaving results due to those thousands of hours of extra training, made possible by the Medic One Foundation. The Medic One tax levy funds do not cover the training and are totally separate and apart from it. Those are government dollars which supply the vitally- needed trucks, supplies and personnel; however, the gold-standard training that is the hallmark of Medic One is made possible by the Medic One Foundation — the only funder of this world-class training program, which enables paramedics to provide ER-level care to patients prior to reaching the hospital. The Medic One Foundation receives no government dollars and relies solely on charitable contributions from individuals and businesses to accomplish our life- saving mission. This level of training is a model to which communities around the world aspire. In addition to training today’s lifesaving paramedics, the Medic One Foundation supports research into first responder best practices and new medical treatments, citizen CPR and first- aid training, and critical equipment for fire departments to enhance patient care. Our first responders need us now PROVIDED BY MEDIC ONE FOUNDATION The Medic One Foundation’s programs are strategically designed with this vision: a future where no one dies from a treatable medical emergency. Please help us now continue the training that moves us all towards that hopeful future. Donate at mediconefoundation.org .
