Being without a safe, warm place where you can limit your exposure to the virus is very danger- ous. Shelters like Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission and the organizations that build and manage thousands of low-income housing buildings struggle with the lack of sufficient shelter all over our state. Organizations like New Beginnings that shelter women and children who are escaping violence in their homes are essential, as abuse often worsens during times of family stress and unemployment.
