BartellDrugs130Anniversary

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2020 | Special Advertising Section 1 R 6 When we at Bartell Drugs look back on our 130-year history, we’re exceptionally proud and appreciative to be woven into the fabric of the Pacific Northwest. It’s not just about selling goods and prescriptions to customers — it’s about fulfilling a need in our community, serving our customers and giving back to the neighborhoods in which we live. This year has presented each of us with a myriad of unique and difficult challenges. Through it all, we know that each of us, as individuals and as organiza- tions, has a role to play in supporting one another. We’d like to share a few examples of our efforts this year, with the intention of showing how, when we look out for our neighbors and those around us, even a little, we can make a mean- ingful difference. Senior supply drive As soon as the state’s stay-at-home order was enacted, we knew that homebound and home- less older adults would be among the hardest-hit groups. We partnered with Aegis Living and Seattle Seniors Strong on a campaign launched in early April to raise cash and collect essential items for these populations. Thanks to the tremendous support of our customers By supporting our neighbors, we can all make a difference In addition to selling goods and prescriptions to its customers, Bartell Drugs is committed to giving back in the neighborhoods that it serves. and employees, we raised $106,000 for supplies for older adults in the area. Locals Supporting Locals booklet Some of the businesses that have been the most affected by the pandemic are small neighborhood stores and restaurants. In late April, we partnered with locally owned shops, neighborhood restaurants and eateries, area museums and other great busi- nesses in the Puget Sound region to create a coupon booklet inspired by our commitment to support the Northwest community. The booklet included more than 50 offers and was distributed to our custom- ers in early May, with offers valid through the end of August. We’re pleased that this booklet provided great results for local busi- nesses, including more than 2,500 redemptions at Ivar’s restaurants and 570 redemptions at Uwajimaya markets.
