SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2020 | Special Advertising Section 1 R 14 HERE’S TO 130 YEARS OF CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY Back in 1890, an entrepreneurial young pharmacist from Kansas took a chance and bought the Lake Washington Pharmacy in Seattle’s Central District. George H. Bartell, Sr. began to make a name for himself in the Pacific Northwest by rooting his pharmacy in exceptional attention to his customers. Driven by the goals of helping customers stay healthy and delighting them with innovative products, he pioneered the Bartell Drugs culture of Red Vest Service, ensuring that his staff would go above and beyond every day, for every customer. Four generations later, that Red Vest Service is thriving in neighborhoods all around the Puget Sound at more than 65 stores. From one longtime local business to another, The Seattle Times congratulates Bartell Drugs on keeping our community healthy and vibrant for so many years. The Seattle Times celebrates Bartell Drugs and its anniversary.
